Hotel San Cristobal

OVERVIEW

A bohemian dream, Hotel San Cristobal is hidden away at the end of a long dirt road on the Pacific coast of Mexico’s Baja California, just minutes from the sleepy, hippie town of Todos Santos. The hotel is an Instagrammers mecca, with its white-washed walls, eclectic tiles, terra cotta potted cacti and brightly woven Mexican textiles. Every detail of the property’s 32 guestrooms and common areas has been painstakingly considered and it’s discovering these details that makes a the San Cristobal experience so memorable.

WHY WE LOVE IT

San Cristobal has the off-the-beaten-path authenticity that’s almost impossible to find in many of Mexico’s more trodden tourist destinations and it really is the sum of so many carefully considered details that makes it so special. Oversized fireplaces create the perfect nooks for your morning coffee or evening mezcal. There are signature serape kimonos for guests to wear poolside throughout their stay. The hotel boutique is epically curated, representing artisans and designers from all over the country. Even the setting of the sun is marked each evening with the ringing of a giant gong as it dips below the horizon in exact alignment with the pool, allowing for unobstructed views of the glowing Pacific from wherever you choose to lounge.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

San Cristobal has curated a unique program of local-led community and wellness activities including yoga, surfing, hiking and traditional medicine. For guests wanting to further connect with the local environment and give back to the community, the hotel will facilitate volunteer opportunities including fostering a pup during your stay, bringing much needed supplies to donate to local charities, shepherding baby sea turtles back to sea and helping out on the region’s farms.

LOCATION

Hotel San Cristobal is hidden away at the end of a long dirt road on the Pacific coast of Mexico’s Baja California, just minutes from the quaint artist community of Todos Santos where the streets are lined with art galleries, cafes and boutiques. The hotel is backed by the surrounding Sierra de la Laguna mountain range which is popular for both hiking and mountain biking (there are trails leaving directly from the hotel property). 20 minutes south of San Cristobal you’ll find Playa Cerritos, a popular surf beach for beginners and experts alike.
