Italy

Masseria Moroseta

OVERVIEW

Just on the outskirts of the charming town of Ostuni, in the heart of Italy’s south western most region sits Masseria Moroseta—a modern Pugliese farmhouse surrounded by more than five hectares of organic olive groves. The 6-room guesthouse was built in the style of a typical masseria, made of local white sandstone but with modern enhancements including solar power and energy-saving building materials. All of the artisans, materials, and food served at the hotel are locally sourced, supporting a true sense of community. Masseria’s resident hens and the on-site vegetable garden provide fresh, family-style breakfast for guests daily (rate inclusive). Ostuni, UNESCO World Heritage Site Alberobello and Polignano a Mare are all a short trip away but with in-house massages, steam baths, daily yoga classes and two pools, guests will be tempted not to leave.

WHY WE LOVE IT

Masseria Moroseta combines the best of old and new, pairing authentic, Puglian elements with modern, sustainable touches. You may fall in love with the hotel’s thoughtfully curated furnishings but the best part if most of it is for sale—Bring home a piece of the place from the boutique which sells handmade ceramics from Grattaglie, bedding and Linum linen lace.

SUSTAINABILITY

Masseria Moroseta may be traditional Pugliese in structure but its commitment to nature makes it a modern retreat. With 30″ thick walls, eco-friendly, recycled insulation and vaulted ceilings, air conditioning and heating are rarely needed, despite the summer’s hot temperatures. The hotel produces its own solar power energy and gets its water supply from its organic farm. The food, served communal, farm table style, is grown on the property’s land or sourced from local farmers.

LOCATION

Masseria Moroseta is located in the heart of Italy’s southwestern most region, just 3km from the charming town of Ostuni, 57km from Polignano a Mare and 39km from UNESCO World Heritage Site, Alberobello. The hotel is 1 hour 15 minute drive from Bari International Airport and 30-minute drive from Brindisi Airport. We recommend renting a car at the airport to explore the local region.
