Hidden away on Sayulita’s quieter north shore, Don Bonito is a minimalist modern hideaway designed and brought to life by Sayulita local, Rodrigo Peña. The adult-only, boutique hotel offers nine bright and stylishly appointed guestrooms, a saltwater dip pool and a plant-based cafe serving coffee, tea, smoothies, açai bowls and other healthy grab-and-go meals. Dinner can be served via off-site restaurant, La Rustica, featuring pizzas, pastas and Mexican favorites, so you can order whatever you’re craving, directly to your room.
WHY WE LOVE IT
With its tropical-inspired, mid-century aesthetic and cool surf vibe, plant-based dining, and a location close to the action but removed enough for some solitude—there isn’t much not to love about this boutique gem.
LOCATION
Just meters from the beach (there is direct beach access just across the street from the hotel) tucked away in the quiet Avenida Palmar on Sayulita’s less crowded north shore, Don Bonito Hotel is a five-minute walk to Sayulita’s centre but just far enough away from the action to feel like a retreat.
