Comments Off on FOUNDER + CREATIVE DIRECTOR, MAGALI PASCAL
I first discovered Magali Pascal’s eponymous brand in 2015, on a trip to Bali. In a sea of casual swim and resort wear, Magali’s beautiful boutiques stood apart, with their minimalist aesthetic, Parisian sensibility and laid-back, island vibe. I’ve been a loyal follower and wearer ever since and I am so excited to share a bit of the French-born founder and creative director’s story—how she found her way from Paris to the heavenly beaches of Bali, how sustainability is intrinsically and purposefully woven throughout the fabric of the brand, and how living on the Island of Gods’ inspires her creatively.
Tess Robinson is the founder and creative director of Smack Bang Designs, a Sydney-based creative studio (and the phenomenally talented team behind our own brand and website). An entrepreneur since her early 20’s, Tess has grown Smack Bang Designs from when she was a 22 year old independent freelancer to where it is now, as one of Australia’s leading creative studios. Tess is also the co-founder of Urban Growers, building a greener future through edible gardens, urban farms and education, has co-authored a book, Slow Down and Grow Something, and she is a mom to a beautiful baby girl. To say we are inspired by Tess’s fearless drive, positive vibe and thoughtful approach to life and business would be an understatement. We’re so excited to share a bit of her story and hopefully inspire us all to find our “why”, take the leap of faith and enjoy the journey.
Having grown up in Manila and lived in Dubai, it was the ocean and a desire for a slower pace that pulled interior designer Vianca Soleil Roquero back home to the Philippines. Just over a year ago, Vianca moved to Puro Island, an untouched paradise in the province of Romblon, characterized by white sand, palm trees and wild mangroves. Vianca and her family are building their beach home Unna, which as her designs continue to evolve, will become a small eco-resort that is already on our travel wish list. As admirers of her journey and her impeccable creative eye, we are excited to share our inspiring conversation with Vianca about the transition from city life to island living, how nature inspires her work, the inspiration behind her vision for Unna and more.
Now more than ever do we recognize the power of photography to transport us to all the places we dream of, and photographer Renee Rae’s work does just that. From the beaches of her homeland in Australia, to the Saharan desert and all of the beautiful design, architecture and nature in between, Renee’s minimalist aesthetic and appreciation for natural elements lends to an Instagram feed that we love to follow. We chatted with Renee who gave us insight into her foray into freelance photography, how she aims to travel a bit lighter, where she is dreaming of traveling post-pandemic and more.

Comments Off on FRANCESCA + NOELIA OF LA TIENDITA TULUM
La Tiendita is the brainchild of friends and fellow expats Francesca Durante and Noelia Pretini, who found each other in the Caribbean and fell in love with magical Tulum Town. Having stumbled upon La Tiendita on a trip to Tulum, we knew the neutral aesthetic, consciously handwoven treasures and sustainable values were a perfect fit for The Drift. We caught up with Francesca and Noelia to learn more about why it’s important to them to support Mexico’s artisans, where they find creative inspiration and more.
